TRAM Score: Measures how good a team actually is. TRAM Score is calculated using a team's Team Rating, Game Rating, and Opponent Rating.
Team Rating: An advanced Strength of Record stat. Team Rating measures how good a team is based on their record, not their performance. Team Rating is calculated using our own formula that uses a combination of: Win and Loss Percentage, Opponents' Win and Loss Percentage, and Average Margins of Victory and Loss.
Opponent Rating: Measures 2 things: Strength of Schedule and Average Performance based on Strength. Opponent Rating includes averaging each opponents' Game Rating (minus their game together) and comparing their average to the actual result of their game together.
COVID: 2020 was a strange year on and off the field, and that is reflected here as well. Take the 2020 ratings with a grain of salt.
Cumulative TRAM: An accumulation of TRAM Ratings throughout the years. The longer a team has been playing FBS football, the higher their Cumulative TRAM will be. Cumulative TRAM is a rating of how a team has been trending. The better they have been doing recently, the better their Cumulative TRAM will be.
Game Rating: Measures how well a team performs against its schedule, regardless of current record. Record Rating evaluates every game on a team's schedule and gives them a rating for each game. It measures each game using: each team's Team Rating (minus their current opponent) and the result of the game. Game Rating adds more weight to the Record Rating for each game as the season progresses to allow for improvement and regression. It then averages a team's Record Rating.
Home Rating: A team's average Game Rating in home games.
Away Rating: A team's average Game Rating in away games.
Record: All ratings (and therefore TRAM Score) disregard games including FCS opponents. Records reflect this omission.
Seasons: Because TRAM only includes FBS data, the Seasons column reflects the number of seasons a team has played FBS football.
